graphical model

I have been reading about graphical models for a few days here and there. So on the plane (to NIPS 2011) I tried to draw a graphical model for a large-scale structure and weak-lensing jointly supported model of the density field and cosmological parameters. I think I am close. Marshall and I and anyone who can stand it are going to unconference on Friday and try to work it out.

  1. The sticky wicket will be the nodes that represent the systematics of the photo-z's and the shear measurements. I don't think you'll be able to figure out the associated distribution shapes for those nodes from first principles. [Or, more accurately, I tried several times and failed.]

  2. @Unknown: We are going to deal with that problem by hierarchically inferring the parameters of those priors. See, eg, http://arxiv.org/abs/1011.5910 by Mandel et al.
