Foreman-Mackey and I had an internet chat with Andrew Gelman, Bob Carpenter, and Daniel Lee (all Columbia) regarding the hierarchical modeling package STAN. They want to see if it works in astronomical contexts, and we have astronomical contexts that need hierarchical inference. So it may be a match made in heaven. After the great success of exoSAMSI, we gave them the Kepler problem, and promised them reading material. They gave us the STAN manual!
