It was a low-research day today but Boris Leistedt (NYU) and I got in a discussion of how and why we run meetings and workshops and what amount of time to spend on that as a postdoc. We also talked about inclusivity at such meetings and the issues around that; especially bringing on-board collaborators who are suspicious about diversity-related desiderata. It's a complex set of issues, especially because it is where science meets ethics, and everyone feels judged or threatened.
